A Canadian hitchhiker stole a car from an elderly gentleman who offered to give her a lift. Several minutes later she lost control of the vehicle and was killed in the crash, police reported.
The accident occurred near the town of Hawkesbury, some 100 kilometres north-east of Ottawa, after an elderly man stopped his vehicle to give a ride to the twenty-year-old Mandy Deschambeault.
He exited from the vehicle and the girl jumped into his seat and drove off. But, she lost control of the car, drove the car into some trees and was killed on the spot.
