Text

`The announcement of the new government has been delayed until tomorrow,` a spokesman for Left-Green leader said.

A new coalition government for crisis-hit Iceland will be announced on Saturday and not, as orginally planned, later on Friday, one of the two parties involved in the talks said.

"The announcement of the new government has been delayed until tomorrow," a spokesman for Left-Green leader Steingrimmur Sigfusson said.

The Social Democrats and the Left-Greens are negotiating on a new government, expected to lead the nation to new elections between April and June.

The new government would replace the cabinet of Prime Minister Geir Haarde who stepped down on Monday amid growing protests over his government's handling of the financal crisis.
