The crash in which 117 people died was caused by pilot error.
On January 24, 1966 a total of 117 people died when an Indian Boeing 707 crashed near Mont Blanc in the Alps. The plane was flying from Bombay to New York.
Due to bad weather the search for the passengers had been called off and the cause of the accident was unknown. It was suspected that the pilot had caused the crash because only several minutes before the crash he had contacted the flight control saying everything was fine all the instruments were working properly.
