Israel carried out an air strike on Sunday targeting a car used by Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip, killing at least one militant, local residents said.
The army confirmed the air strike but provided no further details. It was the first Israeli air strike on a car in several weeks.
A Hamas security source said the vehicle was being driven by Islamic Jihad militants when it was hit. One person inside the vehicle was killed and another was seriously injured.
Islamic Jihad has claimed responsibility for more cross-border rocket attacks against southern Israel than any other group since Hamas seized control of Gaza more than a week ago.
