Polls show that 80 percent of Israelis support the attacks on Gaza, while opponents of the war are trying to get in the media.
Israeli attacks on Gaza are not subsiding, protesters all over the world are urging for peace, while the U.S. Senate endorsed Israel. Almost 900 Palestinians have been killed, including women and children. And while some media support Israel, others denounce the attacks, international agencies report.
But little is reported about the fact that not all Israeli people are supporters of the war and that opposition parties condemn the actions of the government. Although polls show that 80 percent of Israelis support the Gaza offensive, those opposing the war, who are in minority, are trying to point out to the government their mistakes.
Nomika Zion, head of the Israeli society Another Voice, says the other side of the story has a hard time getting to the media. The society is asking for an alternative to solving the relations between the Israelis and Pakistanis, an alternative completely different to the war.
They are called traitors and war criminals
The fact that you cannot say what you think for fear that you will be attacked is dangerous for our society, Zion says.
Many call us traitors and war criminals because we speak of the war as it is ongoing. The truth is that the government ordered this criminal war, said Teddy Katz, a member of an Israeli peace society.
Israelis who oppose the war are heading out to the streets with posters that read “Stop the Occupation”, “Stop the War”, “We Want Peace”, but nobody in power heeds this.
Several days ago a news conference was held at which members of the opposition coalition laid out their thoughts. Some of them commented on the causes of the war, the electoral success of the government and its corruption,
