Israeli fire into the Gaza Strip killed a Palestinian on Tuesday, medical workers said, after the reported killing of an Israeli soldier close to the border with the Hamas-ruled territory.

The Palestinian, identified by the medical workers as a farmer, was killed after Israeli forces fired into an area about a kilometre (half-mile) from the site where Al Arabiya television said the soldier was killed and three other troops were wounded in breach of ceasefire declarations.
