In his letter to the judges, in which he expresses his ‘superb respect,’ Karadzic references Georgi Dimitrov’s trial and Kafka.
Former leader of Bosnian Srebs, Radovan Karadzic, who is accused of genocide in Bosnia, has announced that he would not appear at the beginning of his Hague trial scheduled for Monday.
- I would like to report to you that my defense is not ready for the trial scheduled for October 26 and that, therefore, I would not appear before you on this day - says a message that Karadzic sent to the Judicial Council on Wednesday.
In his letter, Karadzic complains that his defense had not been finished and that he requires more time for the “process that will determine the future relations in the region for the next century, and perhaps even more”.
In his notification to the judges, Karadzic assures his ‘superb respect’ for the court and references Georgi Dimitrov’s trial and Kafka.
Karadzic is charged with 11 counts of war crimes, including crimes against humanity and two counts of genocide committed in the war in Bosnia from 1992 to 1995.
