Karzai Says Tension With United States Ended

Karzai spoke by phone with President Barack Obama after Obama announced on Tuesday that he planned to send an additional 17,000 U.S. troops.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai said on Wednesday that tension with the United States over civilian casualties was over.

"The tension was over civilian casualties and uncoordinated operations by foreign troops. From now on, no foreign troop operations will be uncoordinated with Afghan forces," he said during a speech in Mahter Lam, east of Kabul. "The tension the Afghan government had with the U.S. government is now over."
