Magnitude 6.1 Quake Hits Northern Chile

The quake, centered 94 miles (150 km) east of the Chilean city of Iquique, struck at a depth of 24.9 miles (40 km).

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck northern Chile on Monday near the Bolivian border, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Chile is a major copper producer.
