A mass grave has been discovered in Divic near Zvornik, next to the main road between Zvornik and Bratunac. The victims were killed in Zvornik in May 1992 and the Tuzla Prosecutor’s Office team of experts with prosecutor Emir Ibrahimovic started the exhumation.

“Four skeletal remains were discovered and forensic evidence shows that they belong to two people. On [the remains], there are visible marks of gunshot wounds in the pelvic area,” prosecutor Ibrahimovic told Dnevni avaz.

According to the words of Ismet Music from the federal commission for missing people, the bodies of six to seven people had most likely been taken to the spot where they were looking for the remains of other unknown victims.

“After they had been unloaded from the vehicle, garbage was thrown on them, which stayed there until today,” says Music.

The exhumation team, which includes, among others, Dr. Vedo Tuco, the representatives of the Tuzla canton Ministry of the Interior and Tuzla commemoration centre, are working in exceptionally difficult conditions, especially since the area is steep and leads directly to the Drina river bed.
