GUANGZHOU, China, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao said he hopes trade volume between China and Germany exceeds $200 billion this year.

Wen's remarks came while talking with visiting German Chancellor Angela Merkel and businessmen from both countries in Guangzhou, capital of southern China's Guangdong province, China's state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

Merkel and Wen attended a trade seminar for the Chinese and German businessmen and visited the Chinese branch of Herrenknecht AG, a German manufacturer of tunnel-drilling machines.

On Saturday, Merkel concluded her fifth official visit to China since taking office.

During her three-day trip, Merkel also met with Chinese President Hu Jintao and top legislator Wu Bangguo in Beijing.
