The leaders of most parties in Montenegro said Obama´s win was a win for democracy, and a good lesson to the local political scene.
Most of the leaders of Montenegro’s political parties said that the American presidential elections and the victory of the Democratic, Afro-American candidate Barack Obama is a historical event. They said that it represents a good message for the local political scene.
The political director of the ruling DPS (Democratic Socialist’s Party) Predrag Sekulic is happy that Obama won, because all of the promises that could be heard about world issues, in some way will be shaped by the actions of the new American president.
The head of the PZP (Movement for Change), the strongest opposition party, Nebojsa Medojevic, is happy with the election results with the evaluation that change is a global phenomenon, and that it is becoming a global hit around the world, and it is expected that this wave will come across Montenegro too.
The head of the SNP (Socialist People’s Party) Srdjan Milic, said that he is proud that he was at the US Democratic Party convention, when Obama was nominated for presidential candidate.
The vice-president of the Social-Democratic Party Ivan Brajovic claims that it is obvious that the elections in the USA can be considered historical. He says this is for the idea that the US once again shows the idea of the American dream, that a man who was not even born on the continental part of America, a black man, achieved his dream and became the first man of the USA.
A parliamentarian of the AA (Albanian Alternative) party Vasel Sinishtaj, evaluated that the choice of Obama is a victory for democracy in the USA, and that it will be a good example for Montenegro to head in that direction, and that there be no prejudices when national minorities are in question.
