More than 25,000 Women Raped During War in Bosnia

This is the first time since the Bosnian war that anybody has come out with this large a number of raped and abused women.

More than 25,000 women and 52 men were raped and sexually abused during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina, said the president of the “Woman – Victim of War” association, Bakira Hasecic, according to the Internet issue of the “Dnevni avaz” daily.

This is the first time anybody has publicised such a huge number of raped and molested women since the war in Bosnia.

Bakira Hasecic said that from only one statement of a raped woman in Brcko it was evident that more than 40 girls aged from 13 to 18 had been raped in that town on one occasion.

Hasecic called on all women and men who had been raped or sexually molested during the war in Bosnia to contact the “Woman – Victim of War” association, adding that confidentiality was guaranteed.
