OSLO, Norway, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- The Oslo, Norway, District Court convicted three men of plotting terrorist actions against Norwegian and Danish targets, officials said.

Mikael Davud, 40, was sentenced to seven years in prison for his role in planning an assault on the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten and-or the assassination cartoonist Kurt Westergaard for his cartoons lampooning the Prophet Mohammed, The (Raege, Norway) Foreigner reported Monday. He also confessed to wanting to blow up the Chinese Embassy in Oslo for personal reasons.

This is the first time anyone has been convicted of planning terrorism in Norway, officials said.

Shawan Sadek Saeed Bujak, 38, and David Jakobsen, 33, were sentenced to 42 months and four months, respectively.

Jakobsen was freed on charges of planning an act of terrorism, but sentenced for helping Davud obtain components for making a bomb, The Foreigner said.

The newspaper did not report Bujak's target.

The court reduced Davud's and Bujak's jail time by 606 days each to take into account time served. The court ruled Jakobsen already served his sentence.
