Obama To Announce Salazar To Interior

Obama said on Monday he planned to unveil his pick for interior secretary this week.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will hold a news conference on Wednesday and a Democratic official said he would announce Colorado Democratic Sen. Ken Salazar as his choice to become interior secretary.

Obama has used a series of press meetings to introduce members of his cabinet.

Obama said on Monday he planned to unveil his pick for interior secretary this week and the Democratic official said he would announce Salazar to head the Interior Department.

The interior secretary is in charge of the national parks as well as federal lands leased for oil and gas drilling.
