Obama To Visit Prague During Europe Trip

Text

Czech officials expect Obama to comment on plans to build a U.S. missile defence radar in the Czech Republic.

U.S. President Barack Obama will visit the Czech Republic at the end of his April trip to Europe, a Czech government source said on Thursday.

The Czech Republic, which holds the rotating EU's presidency, invited Obama to Prague after the April 2 G20 summit in London and the April 3-4 NATO summit in Strasbourg.

The source said Obama would visit the Czech capital on April 4 or 5. The Czech Foreign Ministry spokeswoman was not immediately available and the U.S. embassy in Prague declined to comment.

Czech officials expect Obama to comment on plans to build a U.S. missile defence radar in the Czech Republic. The new administration has been cooler on the plan, which is fiercely opposed by Russia, than the administration of George W. Bush.
