ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- Insurgents fired nine rockets at a military officers' training academy in Abbottabad, Pakistan Friday but no one was injured, police said.

A senior police official said the rockets damaged a wall at the Kakul academy, CNN reported.

The academy is near the compound where al-Qaida founder Osama bin Laden was killed last year in a raid by U.S. Navy SEALS.

Imtiaz Hussain Shah, a local government official, told Britain's Daily Telegraph it was unclear who was behind the attack at the academy.

"Nine rockets were fired in total," Shah said. "Three hit the boundary wall of the academy while six fell on open ground."

The pre-dawn attack came the day after a visit by Pakistan's most senior army officer to Abbottabad, about 30 miles from Islamabad, Pakistan's capital, officials said.
