ZMAGO JELINCIC:

`Partisans Were Serbs, Not Croats`

Text

Jelincic claims that Croatia keeps twisting historic facts and that Slovenia lost a part of its territory with Tito`s arrangement.

Croatian President Stjepan Mesic recently said that Slovenes would today be watching the sea from a 20-kilometre distance if it were not for Croatian partisans who liberated Istria and the Slovene coast up to Trieste. Slovene politicians called his statement scandalous and disgraceful.

President of the Slovene National Party (SNS) and MP Zmago Jelincic says that what Mesic said was common practice of Croatia to twist historic facts and tell lies.

Jelincic claims Croatia was unpunished for crimes

- Croatia was a rival of Hitler’s and after the formation of the Ustasha movement, it signed accession to the Axis Powers. The partisan movement was established by the people of Serbian nationality together with Slovenes who lived in Istria. There were very few Croats and those who were not Ustashas or Croatian Home Guards crossed to the partisans – Zmago Jelincic told Javno web site.

Jelincic pointed out that Croatia became a part of Yugoslavia within the framework of Josip Broz Tito`s agreement with his allies.

- Thus, it was left unpunished for crimes – Jelincic said, adding everyone should remember Jasenovac.

Border which has never been arranged was marked on disputable maps

Jelincic confirmed that he has received 4,000 pages of documents which prove Croatia prejudices the border.

- These are maps which were added to various acts and a line across the middle of the Piran Bay was marked. Such a border has never been arranged – Jelincic claims.

He went on saying that Slovenia lost everything it belonged to her after World War II, because of the communists` agreement.

- Croatia got Istria, because Serbia got a part of Croatia. This was the communists` agreement – Zmago pointed out.

European Union has seen the documents

Furthermore, he said that the European Union has seen the disputable documents.

- However, Croatian politicians are running things exceptionally well. I would love Slovenia to have such good politicians as Croatia has – Jelincic concluded.

When asked about his opinion concerning further developments, Jelincic said Slovenia was not in a hurry.
