PhotoWhilst tensions rise in Afghanistan with the Taliban offering strong resistance, Sarkozy has headed to the Middle East to help.
A car bomb has killed 18 people in Baghdad, the capital city of Iraq. At the same time the new American president Barack Obama has started with fulfilling pre-election promises, but it has yet to be seen if he will be able to solve the situation in the Middle East.
The French president Nicolas Sarkozy might help him with this, who proved himself last year in peacemaking activities, mostly in the conflict between Russia and Georgia. He is preparing to visit Kuwait, and it is certain that he will talk about the elections in Israel, as well as about Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, which are still areas of tension.
