Carnival processions throughout Europe made all participants shine, especially the one in Torres Vedras.
Sunday was marked by carnival processions across Europe. During the Venice Carnival, a hawk flew into the La Fenice Theatre to see the great Cavalchina ball, which is one of the most important carnival events.
The Torres Vedras village procession, Portugal, which is otherwise famous for satirically portraying international and home events, featured Portuguese PM Jose Socrates and Venezuela President Hugo Chavez flying in the air. The president held the premier in his arms.
Processions which took place in Africa were of a different kind. During the African National Congress in Khayelitshi near Cape Town, the police tried to refrain supporters of ANC president Jacob Zuma.
At the same time, German Chancellor Angela Merkel got a kiss from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, as French President Nicolas Sarkozy laughed.
