PhotoEight statesmen of the wealthiest countries in the world met in devastated L`Aquila to discuss burning issues.
Another G8 group summit began on Wednesday, this time in Italian L`Aquile, which was recently struck by disastrous earthquakes. This move by Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi clearly emphasises the comparison of the small town which hosted the summit and is trying to rise from the ruins and the world, faced with the recovery of the devastating economic crisis.
The credit crunch was not the sole issue in L`Aquila. Ecological safety of the planet was also discussed, i.e. agreements on reducing greenhouse gas emission.
The conclusion is that the planet really is on the verge of climate changes – additionally raising the global temperature is inadmissible, even by two degrees Celsius.
However, this was just the first day of the summit. Who knows what sort of apocalyptic prognosis we will face in the next two days?
You can see the G8 group summit and other scenes which marked the day in the attached photo gallery: Day In Photos - July 8, 2009.
