NEW YEAR`S DAY
JANUARY 1 2009 12:22h
Fireworks in various colours shone nearly all larger cities of the world. Celebrations took place in Budapest, Athens, Skopje, Havana…
The New Year has finally arrived, and it was welcomed in larger cities throughout the world with celebrations and fireworks.
Thailand marked the first day of 2009 with a tragedy, because approximately 60 people died in a nightclub fire. Cars were torched in France, while Greek citizens tried to set banks on fire, because of the economic crisis.
However, the sky above Athens was lit up by fireworks in various colours, which delighted the citizens, as well as numerous tourists. Parties went on in other cities, worldwide: songs were sung in Budapest, Warsaw, Skopje, Brazilia, Havana and Singapore.
Cuba residents loved the fireworks, even though their living standard is not the best due to the American embargo.
Take a look in the attached photo gallery to see the fireworks across the globe on New Year`s Day: Fireworks, Celebrations, Songs All Over The Globe.
