The past week was marked by clashes between Fattah and Hamas in Gaza. At least 116 were killed and 550 wounded.
The past week was marked by clashes between Fattah and Hamas in Gaza. At least 116 were killed and 550 wounded. Hamas attacked Fattah, took over power in Gaza and western countries supported the government of President Abbas whose troops were exiled from Gaza.
American President George W. Bush was greeted as a rock star in Albania. Traffic in Tirana was halted for that entire day. There Bush got a large cake in the shape of the American flag, a medal and a street named after him, but did not lose his watch – at least as the White House claims.
Illegal immigrants who wanted to enter Europe did not have much luck. Several hundred of them were arrested after accidents at sea. A Nigerian citizen died on a deportation flight from Spain.
Different stances on the independence of Kosovo changed daily, from the attitude that Kosovo should be independent to the stance that such a decision would be contrary to the Serbian Constitution and thus invalid.
Milan Martic was sentenced to 35 years in jail by the international war crimes court in The Hague for crimes committed against Croats and other non-Serb civilians. The Hague tribunal gained credibility with this sentence.
