PHOTO/VIDEO: Berlusconi Smashes W. House Lectern

The Italian prime minister broke the lectern at a formal dinner, as its pieces fell on Bush.

An official dinner at the White House, with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi as the guest, has turned into a parody. Berlusconi managed to smash the lectern and its parts fell on American President Bush.

Everyone present could not refrain from loud laughter, and the Italian premier was rewarded with applause.

During the dinner, Berlusconi proposed a toast with Nancy Pelosi, Home speaker, while he praised Bush. The Italian prime minister wanted to point out that a woman was heading the House of Representatives, translating to Italian as “prima donna”.

- I am 100 percent sure we will always remain friends – Berlusconi emphasised during the official dinner.
