Putin Promised Veto Against Kosovo Independence

Russia will block Security Council resolution on Kosovo independence by veto. Vladimir Putin allegedly promised this to PM Kostunica.

Reports quoting Serbian government officials claim Vladimir Putin promised Kostunica he will use his veto against Kosovo's independence before the United Nations Security Council.

Although Serbia has been negotiating with the Kosovo Albanians since February of last year, there are no results. Not even the UN special envoy Martti Ahtisaari could help.

It is exactly Ahtisaari who will present his solution for the Kosovo status before the UN Security Council at the beginning of February.
