British Queen Elisabeth II and her husband, Duke Philip, are arriving in Slovenia on Tuesday for their first visit to that country. The royal couple will exchange gifts and honours with their host, Slovenian President Danilo Tuerk.
The queen will also briefly receive Prime Minister Janez Jansa and the speaker of the new Slovenian parliament, Pavle Gantar. Accompanying the royal couple will also be British Foreign Minister David Miliband.
The British queen’s first visit to Slovenia is being treated as the highest official visit this year, ranking with a state visit, and as proof of strengthening bilateral relations with London.
