The British cabinet passed a decision on attacking UFOs, because they were considered a threat for national security.
Nick Pope of London, former Defence Ministry official claims that RAF pilots attacked UFOs several times, The Sun writes. Such orders were a public secret and came directly from the cabinet. However, according to Pope, they never managed to knock down a single craft.
- We know of cases where the order has been given to shoot down - with little effect to the UFO – Nick Pope said.
RAF pilots encountered unidentified flying objects several times, and in most cases, decided if they would attack themselves.
- RAF attacks on UFOs were not automatic but happen when something in our airspace is deemed to be a threat - Pope continued.
The government directive to attack UFOs was issued out in 1980 when unidentified flying objects were spotted in the sky above Britain, which were considered threats for national security.
- We want to shoot down a UFO and that will resolve the issue one way or another – the Defence Ministry maintained, according to Pope.
He added that the public would never know if a craft is knocked down, unless it lands on a habited area.
