While it imports from Croatia the most, the Bosnian Serb entity of Republika Srpska (RS) does not export many products to Croatia.

The highest number of goods in RS was imported from Serbia and Croatia in 2006, in the amount of almost half a billion euros.

Greatest export to Serbia, Italy and USA

Industrial products were mostly imported into RS during the past year, while raw materials were exported, Voice of America reports. The best export cooperation was achieved with Serbia and Italy, at a total value of 115 million euros. After these two countries, USA follows with exported goods to RS in the amount of 143 million euros.

Positive trend will resume

Officials of Republika Srpska believe that these indicators show a positive trend which will continue in the year 2007, when an inflow of almost a 1.3 billion convertible marks is expected to be realised from the sale of the entity’s Telekom company, which will be felt by both citizens and the economy, said Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik.

“We will atract the biggest minds from Republika Srpska and its surroundings, of course, those that think well for us, in order to make this plan work. These are considered to be the initial resources. We will try to make them the basis for the accumulation of even greater resources so that every municipality has at least one realised project in the infrastucture domain and one in the employment domain,” Dodik told Voice of America.

Incidentally, Republika Srpska’s Investment and Development Bank officially started work today, and it will govern the financial assets of many funds owned by the entity.
