Romanian media claim the handball player’s father threatened the attackers, allegedly with the help of Serbian paramilitary troops.
The Austrian police have arrested two attackers who killed a Romanian handball player, Marian Cozma, and injured Croatian and a Serbian handball players Ivan Pesic and Zarko Sesum. The police are still searching for the third attacker.
Because one of their handball players was attacked, the Serbians have voiced readiness for revenge, Romania’s Prosport reported. Stevan Sesum, the father of the Serbian handball player, owns the largest security agency in Serbia and allegedly vowed revenge on those who attacked his son.
- Around 300 former members of Arkan’s paramilitary troops have voiced their readiness to go to Hungary and find the perpetrators – Prosport reports.
Stevan Sesum denied he threatened his son’s attackers, stressing this was nonsense.
Handball player Zarko Sesum said he felt bad over losing a friend. He stressed that he only wants to play again.
The goalkeeper of the Croatian national handball team, Ivan Pesic, was stabbed in the night between Saturday and Sunday in the Hungarian town of Veszprem. In the attack, his co-player and Rumanian team player Marian Cozma was killed, while Serbia’s Zarko Sesum was beaten. The attack happened when hooligans waited for the players to exit a night club.
Cozma was stabbed into the heart twice, while Sesum and Pesic tried to help him.
