The deputy president of the SRS resigned because he disagrees with most of his party colleagues with his attempts to go pro-EU.
The deputy president of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) and the chief of the radical club in the Serbian parliament, Tomislav Nikolic resigned from all party functions, reported the Serbian Radical Party.
The reason for this is not agreeing with his party colleagues is his tendencies towards Serbia going towards the European path. Most of the party has sided with the party president Vojislav Seselj, who is strongly opposed to any cooperation with the EU.
The first news was that Nikolic was to replace Seselj, but it had not turned out as he had hoped. His colleagues rejected the notion and Nikolic was left with no other option than to resign.
The reasons for rejecting Nikolic were that his EU tendencies were portrayed as being the acceptance of Kosovo’s independence, and that is totally unacceptable to the radicals. Seselj achieved a win even though he is located in the far away Hague. However this resignation will be a big hit on SRS.
