Ivan Milat is serving a life sentence in Australia for killing seven people. He is suspected of killing 20 others, but there was no proof.
A serial killer of Croatian origin, Ivan Milat, has been transferred from the prison in Australia where he is serving a life sentence to a hospital because he tried to send to the High Australian Court his finger which he cut off, by mail, Australian media reported.
Surgeons attempted to re-attach his finger to his hand so he could serve his life sentence intact. Milat, 64, is serving a life sentence for the murder of five tourists and two Australians. He was also suspected for killing 20 other people, but nothing could be proven.
The prison guards said he was completely calm when he cut his finger off and showed no signs of shock.
Milat was accompanied to the hospital with four security guards and he was handcuffed and had a tracking device on him the entire time.
The Australian doctors are still not certain if Milat’s pinkie finger can be saved and an investigation about the incident has been launched. However, Milat will for certain spend the rest of his life in prison, the Australian authorities have decided.
