The agony of Croatian seafarers, who are imprisoned in Panama, continues. The inquest is still underway.
Loris Subat and Dusko Tanurdzic are Croatian seafarers who have been imprisoned in Panama since May 1. A small amount of cocaine and heroin was found on their ship “Theresa”, owned by the Split Ship Management company.
Although the investigation was anticipated to last a week, after which the seafarers were supposed to have been released, this was not the case.
Danilo Prestint of the Rijeka Seafarers' Union told Javno web site that the administrative side of the job is still not over and that not even the families of the seafarers have been notified on the details of the entire case.
- Although some media have announced that the seafarers were supposed to have been released today, this didn`t happen. I don`t know where you got that information from – Prestint said.
Director of the Split Ship Management company Ratko Bozic said that they are looking for information every day, but he also did not wish to announce the end of the inquest because there is no new information.
- Our man will go to Panama at the end of the week and he should be there on Tuesday – Bozic said, adding the seafarers` families communicate with them on a regular basis.
