Small Mexican cities are full of legends about long lost treasure in abandoned places, and the last treasure hunt has cost six lives.
Four people died in the Mexican town of San Jose Rincon when a tunnel partially collapsed, in which they were searching for the alleged hidden treasure, reported the media on Tuesday.
During an attempt to save them, in the tunnel that was at a depth of 15 meters and 50 meters long, two rescue workers were also killed.
“According to what was said, they were searching for hidden treasure, but unfortunately they were trapped in the tunnel and were suffocated by poisonous gasses” said the representative of the civilian authorities of the town of San Jose Rincon.
Today there are legend according to which rich land owners buried their great treasures under their, now long deserted, haciendas.
