Slovene PM: I Won`t Call Sanader Anymore!

I conclude that there is no will for an agreement on the other side, Pahor said after unsuccessful calls to Sanader.

Slovene Prime Minister Borut Pahor said on Friday he would no longer be calling his Croatian counterpart Ivo Sanader to agree on a meeting over the continuation of bilateral relations, interpreting unanswered calls as lack of interest on Croatian part.

- I tried to arrange a conversation with the Croatian premier, but failed. After several attempts, I conclude that there is no will for an agreement on the other side. Therefore, I won’t try anymore – Pahor told reporters on Friday. He added that unsuccessfully tried talking with Sanader over the telephone in the past few days, but the Croatian PM never answered back.

- It is common international practice that a prime minister calls a collocutor and they answer back. This time, the call was not answered and I`m trying to understand this – Pahor said.

He added that this was not a matter of prestige, but the “dignity of his position”.

- I have done everything in good faith as the prime minister and with hones intentions to exchange views on how to continue in our relations. There was no answer from the Croatian side – Pahor explained the circumstances over the past few days, assessed by the Slovenian media as “obstacles in diplomatic channels”.

Pahor added that he was not pleased with the explanation of the Croatian party, that a meeting was arranged through diplomatic channels.

- This explanation is not convincing. It seems more important to me that there should be will for premiers to talk over the phone – Pahor said.
