Police spokesman Ivan Choo said the Indonesian student was dead when police arrived at 1047 local time (0247 GMT).
A final year engineering student from Singapore's Nanyang Technological University stabbed a professor on Monday before killing himself by jumping off a building, the university said.
Police spokesman Ivan Choo said the Indonesian student was dead when police arrived at 1047 local time (0247 GMT), while the professor was taken to hospital for treatment.
"The university is deeply shocked and saddened by what has happened. The matter will be investigated thoroughly," NTU President Su Guaning said in a statement.
Violence in schools or universities is rare in Singapore, considered to be a safe place by parents from neighbouring countries to send their children to study.
