A part of Hastings was cordoned off after six suspected pipe bombs were found.
Local police are awaiting army bomb disposal units, and have evacuated nearby businesses in the industrial area of Hastings, on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island, said NZPA. Police could not be immediately contacted
About 11.30 a.m. local time (2330 GMT) a business owner found six brass pipes, each about 30 centimetres long and containing what appeared to be explosives, NZPA said.
