The Russian premier earned his success on the list with his conduct during the Georgia crisis when he did everything we set his mind to.
Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is on the list of the most influential people in the world. According to Vanity Fair, he took top spot, marking his first appearance on the list of the influential
magazine as his biggest success.
The Russian exceeded a media magnate
Putin earned his success on the list with his conduct during the crisis in Georgia, during which he did whatever he set his mind to do and nobody could find a way to deter him from acting.
The 55-year-old exceeded last year’s number one Rupert Murdoch, a media mogul who is a veteran on the rang list of Vanity Fair magazine.
Apart from Putin, the list also contains people who turned up on the rang list for the first time, such as Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum (7th) Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (9th), the founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg (25th), British artist Damien Hirst (31st) and producer and director Judd Apatow (58th).
The biggest leap in relation to last year was made by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, who jumped from the 30th spot to number eight, followed by Arnold Schwarzenegger who was 50th on last year’s list and is now 33rd.
Oprah and Clooney drop
The biggest losers in relation to last year were Oprah Winfrey, who dropped from position 14 to 43, and George Clooney, who was 27th last year and is now 55th.
The most influential woman is Angelina Jolie, at 9th place, but contributed to by Brad Pitt. Therefore, the most influential woman on the list is still Oprah Winfrey.
It is interesting that the list does not include Barack Obama, John MacCain or George W. Bush, but Bill Clinton and Al Gore are on spots 11 and 10 respectively.
