A top Shin Bet official, until recently the number three in the Israeli domestic intelligence service, has been suspended for allegedly helping promote his lover, Israeli media reported on Wednesday.
The man, who was until recently Shin Bet's number three, also allegedly failed to disclose a conflict of interest when he chaired a panel that suspended the woman's estranged husband, who also worked for the agency, for more than a year.
The husband recently filed a complaint alleging that the official had helped his estranged wife secure a promotion without disclosing the nature of their relationship, the Haaretz newspaper said.
The Shin Bet did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
