Train Drivers To Strike Over Work Conditions

Text

The Sud and CGT unions will strike from 1900 GMT and will continue until 0700 GMT on Friday.

Two French train drivers unions will begin a strike on Wednesday causing disruption to rail traffic in a protest over management demands for more flexible working conditions.

The Sud and CGT unions will strike from 1900 GMT and will continue until 0700 GMT on Friday.

There will be no night trains in France between Wednesday and Thursday and disruption of varying degrees is expected to services during the day on Thursday.

The action will have a limited impact on international rail services. The SNCF rail operator said Thalys trains, which include services to Brussels, would be "slightly disrupted".

The unions are complaining about an increase in working flexibility for drivers which they say aims to make the state-owned SNCF more profitable to the detriment of workers and rail security.
