Turkey´s main opposition party, the secularist CHP, said on Tuesday it would not attend parliament during presidential elections.
CHP Deputy Chairman Mustafa Ozyurek told a televised news conference the party would boycott receptions and foreign trips if Gul is elected president.
Turkey's secular elite, including army generals, distrust Gul's Islamist past.
