Ukraine's snap parliamentary election is to take place on May 27, according to a decree signed on Monday by President Viktor Yushchenko.

Yushchenko said he had signed a decree dissolving parliament on grounds it had acted in violation of the post-Soviet constitution. A new election to the assembly must be held within 60 days.
