Ukraine pays Russia for September gas supplies

Ukraine paid some 400 million dollars for some two billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas consumed in September.

Ukraine has paid Russia for natural gas it consumed in September, Ukrainian energy company Naftogaz said Tuesday.

- We paid for the gas in full and on time - Naftogaz spokesman Valentyn Zemlyansky said as quoted by the RIA Novosti news agency.

Ukraine paid some 400 million dollars for some two billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas consumed in September, Zemlyansky said.

Russian gas supplies were cut off to much of Europe in January as part of a bitter dispute over payments and prices between Russia and Ukraine.
