UK`s Brown Heads To Davos To Push For G20 Goals

`We`ve really got four objectives for Davos,` the spokesman told reporters.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown plans to use a trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos this week to lay the foundations for the April G20 summit in Britain, his spokesman said on Thursday.

Brown hosts the follow-up to November's Washington G20 crisis meeting on April 2 with pressure growing on global policymakers to act on pledges already made and to do more to ease the financial crisis and a worsening economic downturn.

"We've really got four objectives for Davos," the spokesman told reporters. "Continuing talks with global political and economic leaders as well as academics, industrialists and non-governmental organisations ahead of the London summit.

"Secondly, to build international support to ensure that there is a commitment that the global economic recovery will be a low carbon recovery. Thirdly, to keep working towards a global trade deal and fourth, to continue to press for greater UK trade and foreign direct investment to Britain."
