The U.N. war crimes tribunal on Thursday referred the case of a Bosnian Serb accused of leading a paramilitary group.

The U.N. war crimes tribunal on Thursday referred the case of a Bosnian Serb accused of leading a paramilitary group that killed dozens of Muslims to the Bosnian courts.

The tribunal in The Hague said a referral bench decided to hand over the case of Milan Lukic and his cousin, Sredoje Lukic, adding the decision could be appealed against.

Both are charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.

Milan Lukic, who was on the run for almost seven years, is accused of leading a group known as the "Avengers" or "White Eagles" in Visegrad, southeastern Bosnia, that is blamed for the murders of at least 100 Bosnian Muslims.

His cousin was a member of the unit, the tribunal said.
