Whoever handed over a gun received a free rose and a gift certificate in the amount of 100 dollars for a gun and 50 dollars for a shotgun.
South Carolina police gave roses on St. Valentine`s Day to whoever handed over their weapon to the officers.
South Carolina authorities were conducting the “Guns For Roses” programme on two locations in the city of Columbia.
Whoever handed over a gun received a free rose and a gift certificate in the amount of 100 dollars, while a shotgun got them a 50-dollar gift certificate.
Chris Cowan, the Richland County sheriff spokesperson says they received 75 guns in the first 90 minutes of the project at one of the locations in Columbia. Cowan said that one man brought six guns even.
Even though it was on St. Valentine`s Day, those who handed over stolen weapons would not slide away, but will undergo ballistic tests.
