The new U.S. administration of Barack Obama is determined to set a new tone in America's relations around the world but it will ask for more from its partners, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said on Saturday.

Speaking at a security conference in Munich, Biden, making the first major foreign policy speech of the Obama administration to Europe, said: "I come to Europe on behalf of a new administration determined to set a new tone in Washington and in America's relations around the world."

"America will do more, but America will ask for more from our partners," he said.
