Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi played a prank on his German counterpart Angela Merkel during the Italian-German summit in Trieste.
The Italian leader hid behind a statue in a square where he was supposed to meet with Merkel. When she got out of her car, he jumped up behind her, shouting `coo-coo!`.
Initially, Merkel was shocked, but once she realised what had just happened, she started laughing and said: “Silvio!”.
Afterwards, the prime ministers continued walking towards the palace where the summit was taking place.
Berlusconi is otherwise famous for his unpredictable behaviour and a sense for humour. Recently, he joked about US president-elect. Barack Obama.
