DUMB AND DUMBER
NOVEMBER 1 2008 12:55h
Does Obama know how many states there are in US and how flattered is Mrs. McCain with the fact her husband wants the US to see her topless?
Apart from mutual disputes and accusations, the presidential campaign in the United States was
marked by a lot of gaffes by candidates. The Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin definitely takes top spot with senseless and funny statements.
Among other things, Palin on one occasion did not know what the exact role of a vice-president of a country is.
Many analysts, as well as republicans, criticised Palin for not being familiar with foreign policy and in the end she proved that. She said that she had experience with relations with Russia because when Putin lifts off from Moscow he flies over Alaska to cross over the American border.
Biden to a disabled person: ‘Get up…!’
Palin’s opponent Joe Biden, who is well known for his gaffes, also could not refrain himself. On one occasion he told Senator Chuck Graham, who is disabled and in a wheelchair, to stand up.
Republican presidential nominee John McCain managed to make his voters laugh, especially when he stuck pout his tongue and it seemed that he would grab Obama on the behind. On another occasion he called Americans “his prisoner supporters”.
He also surprised voters when he tried to send a threatening message to Iran by singing it.
- You know that song by the Beach Boys “Bomb Iran” – McCain asked reporters in an attempt to reword the big hit “Barbra Ann”.
During a rally in South Dakota, the Republican candidate managed not only to embarrass himself, but his wife as well. He suggested to his wife Cindy to enter a topless beauty pageant.
So… the United States has 58 states?
Barack Obama is not infallible either, which he proved on several occasions. On one of such occasions, as he was describing his electoral tour across the United States, he told reporters he visited every corner of the country and had so far been in 57 states. Not counting Alaska.
On another occasion he called a reporter of the ABC television network “cute” without answering her question. He thus showed his chauvinist side.
Obama also sometimes goes overboard, so, at a rally in May he said that a hurricane in Kansas destroyed the entire city and killed ten thousand people. When in fact, there were only 12 people killed.
Not much time is left until the end of the campaign and we cannot expect many more gaffes. But the real ‘fun’ starts after the president is elected and the eyes of the world are focused on just one person. From what we have seen so far, whichever candidate wins it will definitely not be dull.
