VideoOlympic banknote mania is sweeping Hong Kong after banks finally started selling four million commemorative notes.
The long wait is finally over - Hong Kong's Olympic bank notes are on sale. Customers have been queueing for two days to get their hands on the limited edition 20 dollar notes. And they even had to endure a severe thunderstorm on Monday night.
But all agree the wait was worth it.
One customer, Madame Lai, said: "I definitely won't be selling these bank notes - no matter how high the price is. They're really valuable and I wouldn't even sell them for $100,000 (12,800 U.S. dollars)."
Four million special-edition Hong Kong notes have been printed. They feature a Greek pillar on one side and Beijing's Birds Nest stadium on the other.
Another customer, Mr. Lee said: "It was worth waiting for, even for such a long time. It's the first time China has issued commemorative Olympics bank notes. Of course I am happy."
China's central bank has also issued six million new 10 yuan notes to mark the Games.
And clearly many people are selling them on. Within minutes of the Hong Kong notes going on sale they were being sold for seven times their face value.
