VideoShould Benedict XVI. be afraid of people in red shirts? For the second time in two years, a man in red tried to attack the Pope.
Whilst Pope Benedict XVI. was leaving Saint Peter’s basilica, after midnight mass at which he called for the protection of children in the world, an unidentified man in a red shirt jumped the fence that was separating the Pope from those gathered, and ran towards Benedict with unknown intentions, reports CNN.
The Pope’s security soon contained the man, but the Pope was concerned, faced with a possible attack. However, because the man was soon captured, the Pope continued waving to those gathered, and slowly walked towards the exit.
This is not the first time that a man in red tried to attack Pope Benedict XVI. A year ago, on June 6, a man wearing at hat and red shirt, jumped over the barricade between the crowd and the road that the open “popemobile” was moving on, obviously with the intention of jumping onto the Pope.
However, he missed the car, and a dozen security guards captured.
Take a look at the incident from 2007 in the video: Man in Red Attempts Attack on Pope in 2007.
